Stockroom Adventure by Ed McBride It's a hot summer night in the mid 1980's and you've been hired to work in the Stock department of Sears, Roebuck and Company at Oakland Mall. Your objective is to acquire ten cans of beer before the store closes at 9 o'clock. Some of the beers are hidden and others can be obtained from Sears associates by doing something for them. Beware of Security and Mr. Dyke. They don't take too kindly to beer in the stockroom. If they catch you then go ahead and try to kill them (it's only a game, remember). You have just finished turning in your W-4 form at the Personnel department and you are ready to start work. Good Luck! Personel Department The personel department is a large room with many desks. You can see Laurie, one of the the personnel staff through a large rectangular hole in the wall. There is a hallway leading south and a door to the east. You see a vase with flowers in it. Laurie from personel is typing busily at her desk > x laurie Laurie from personel is typing busily at her desk > talk to laurie Laurie screams "I thought I told you to report to John Colley. If you can't follow instructions then maybe I should just tear up your W-4 form now. I can't be bothered with your insignificant concerns." > look vase The vase is actually an old jelly jar and the flowers are dandelions. > get vase You pick up the vase of vase. > smell flowers It smells worse than Lee Frelich's breath! > help The Stock Room Adventure is pretty typical of most text adventure games. Use commands like N, S, SE, NW, U, and D for moving in the compass directions (NORTH, SOUTHEAST, etc.) and UP and DOWN. I suggest making a map on a piece of paper as you play. This will make it much easier to pick up the game again if you happen to get killed or you restore a saved game. LOOK AT all of the objects and people in the game for clues. Your commands can be expressed in the format: <(multiple) noun phrase(s)> For example: GET THE PILLS GET THE MAGAZINE AND THE MOLSON CLIMB THE MOWER BOXES EXAMINE THE HEADLIGHT, THE DWARF AND BOB ROSEN EAT THE CELERY AND THE ANCHOVIES SHOOT GAFFNEY WITH THE BAZOOKA GET THE BOOK (also: TAKE THE BOOK) READ THE PAPER GET ALL The game uses a number of special commands for various "housekeeping" chores. These are all pretty standard for most adventure games. Specifically: HELP, SCORE, INVENTORY, VERBOSE, LIST EXITS, SAVE, RESTORE, SCRIPT, UNSCRIPT and QUIT. > e Anna's kitchen.
